[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Bimbling through the streets of Oxford on a day visit to the city, I saw theses old doors and handles.

More experimentation than anything else, I tried an ultra close up to catch the image I've uploaded here.
I wanted to see how the canon 24-70 lens coped with macro type shots.
I think the lens coped pretty well, and better than i did.
It weighs a fair amount, and with the added camera weight, i found it tiring to try and hold the gear steady while shooting.

The doors are an entrance to the university area, and they caught my eye partly because of the totally untouched and untreated woodwork of the doors, and partly due to the smooth, shiny rusted metal of the handles themselves.

A lesson/tip I learned from an excellent photogrpaher on Treklens (RewShearer) from a prior upload, i took his advice. Shot for impact. taken from a completely different perspective and up close. After all, a door is just a door, but this makes it a little different. (Thanks Rew).

I took a few shots at different apertures/shutter speed combinations, and this was the best combination.
Overall clarity and sharpness of the remaining shots were good, but exposures were a little off.

Like i say, purely experimental, and an ideal way of learning optimum settings of the lens.

Thanks for looking guys,

Martin

Hi Martin,

The doors are probably oak so will last for another few centuries the handle looks as if it doesn't get a lot of use but I like the style of them. The rust throws up some very interesting shades and tones a very good macro image well done.

Regards
Jon
