[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hello everyone,I was undecided about the title for this shot....after looking more closely I could have titled it 'Recycling'.

This shot is taken at the edge of the lake that I mentioned in my previous shot of the Grebes. It is a man-made lake, but it has become home for a good variety of water birds.

'Patience', because these birds will sit on their eggs for 34-38 days.

The nest is an enormous mound of water plants and can be up to 13ft,[4m] across and 30in,[76cm]high.

The 'recycling' refers to the materials of this swan's nest,a large sheet of plastic!
This is a Mute Swan, but the grace of the bird belies its placid, decorative appearance;it is extremely quarrelsome, and bullies smaller species.

In the breeding season the male stakes out a large area of water and defends this territory aggressively against all-comers.
The bird's name too, is deceptive, for although quieter than Britain's two wild swans, the Whooper and the Bewick's, it hisses and snorts when angry, and may trumpet feebly.

Thanks for your visit.Hopefully there will be cygnets to photograph soon.

Very good capture.
Good sharpness and details.
Too bad that the bird's face is cut up by the grass.
Moving a few inches to the left would've probably cleared it. Or maybe not :-).

Really good composition, excellent exposure, colors and sharpness. The only thing that I would've done...I would've cloned out the straw that crosses the swan's face. Other than that, really nice job, glad you decided not to "recycle" it! :)
Best regards,
Diana

Hello Jean.
a very graphic presentation of the shot. The tall grasses make the photo very interesting and pleasant. the position of the swan is nice to give an impact to the photo. The muted soft pestel background too allows the subjects to seen clearly.
Well composed and well planned.

Foozi
