[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Dear friends,
I thought to share this image from my library/archive. Taken in the first quarter of 2008, this is Molesey Weir, near East Molesey and just a stone throw from Hampton Court Palace and Bridge in Surrey.

I photographed this shot an a few others in this area of the Thames on a visit here to photograph Hampton Court Bridge (about a stone throw downstream from this spot).

Standing on the crossing rigged above the weir later as I shot scenes of the flowing water(looking upstream), it seemed like you could feel some slight vibration from the fast flowing water beneath. Perhaps an optical illusion or the effect of the wind, as it was a very windy night. Then again perhaps it was a combination of all of these.

This was one of the last shots taken this night and my settings were F/7.1, 13 seconds @ iso 160.

Single exposure, NO HDR - Very minimal PP, USM, saturation/contrast.

Thanks for your visit :-)

Very nice Daniel (from a fan of HDR LOL). I like the mix of different lighting - I guess its a tungsten glow in the FG - with the blue of evening behind.. Tiny little bit of OE on the box on the left - heh, I've got to be picky about something!!

The composition is very nice and 13 seconds works well on the water.

All the best
David

PS the last shot of mine that you critiqued in Dubai Marina was not HDR, although the one with the boats in it was.

Very nice light here Daniel! The blur of the water gives this a surreal look! The railing is nice, it leads you across the picture and then back long the dam! Nice work!

Hi Daniel,
What a warm light on this place! The position of the guardrail gives a good balance at your composition.
I like the soft movement of water.
Windy night, indeed, we can see its effect on the branches of the tree.
Long expoosure is your signature! Always well done! Bravo! Annie

Hi Daniel.
Lovely photo with wonderful exposure control. Nice colours and perfect sharpness. I love the long exposure effect of the falling water.

Hi Daniel,
Great POV and a great perspective; superb colours and light, as usual in your photos, and a wonderful effect in the water capture. Wonderful photo again.
Cheers, mb

Good evening Daniel!

Very interesting effect with this long exposure, looks like a steam flow here. very industrial ligth and mood with the steel catwalks and steps , and orange lights. the broken branch adds a nice touch too.
Cheers!
Robert

hi daniel

the first thing that caught my attention is the framing. it suit well with the compo. i'm thinking an A1 size framed in a place like here (dubai). worth looking at this time of the year for a long time, gives that soothing feeling. i like the ambiance captured.
