Eagles do indeed dare.
Taken at Warwick castle, there was a display showing birds of prey.

This shot is one of the few and probably the best I managed to capture in the few minutes remaining before the display closed.

I say one of the best, because this particular shot shows off the eagle in all it's glory.
The full wingspan, the demarcation of camouflaged plumage, the slight blurred motion of the tip feathers in the wind and the spread tail steering the bird into a stall just before landing back on its perch.

Believe it or not, this is not cropped to zoom in. The bird flew so close to me I could feel and hear the air move.

An amazing bird that really should not be tethered, seen here trailing from its legs.

Shot at the higher end of my 24-70, off camera fill flash set to 1/4 power just to highlight the plumage against the dark trees and background.

Empty space removed from the left of the shot, typical USM and re-sizing carried out for TL upload.

Thanks for looking,

Martin

Hi Martin,

Wow I love the way you have captured this beautiful eagle from underneath and in a swoop. Great colors and very sharp details well done this deserves a good pat on the back.

Regards
Jon

Wow Martin,
What can I say… That was a great shot… You did a great job of panning your subject here.. Nice and sharp… Fill flash might have helped some… But, with a 70/1 mm focal length and the size of that eagles wing span, I don’t think any strobe would do much.. With the background bur here, you show great action… Good composition as well as contrast and saturation… Well done.. .
Tfs
Sincerely,
Den
