A simple collage of shells to illustrate shape and texture.

I have been posting several collages lately both on this site and on TN. I saw an art exhibition at the Tate Modern Gallery where an artist had boxed items in collections in wood crates. The idea was that by themselves objects are uninteresting but grouped together in a collection they are instantly attractive. I decided I would try this concept out in photographs. What do you think? :-)

Hi Karan,
Again a great composition in B&W from your hand. Like the differeces in contrast although I think some need additional lighting. Overall very well done great job!
Hans

I think this is very interesting and beautiful. I do not even know how to do collage :) Each image is very good with excellent details and lightning. I like the use of B&W here and this nice contrast. Well done! The Tate Gallery... It makes me so nostalgic; I went there when I was 18 years old; many years ago and I miss England so much... Wish I can return someday :) Thanks,
Claudine

Interestinng shapes and textures. Good background choices. Very well put together. A bit more light maybe as Hans suggested but nevertheless a good effort.

I always find montage interesting, Karan, but it is an art to get it perfect. I like this one but I am not certain about the choice of the middle picture on the left as it has a different angle from all of the other ones. All of the pictures have a different line where the black start and I am wondering if it would have been better if all of them would have been the same. I do like the vertical composition and each of the pictures are interesting by themselves. Well done!

great compo, BW is a good idea!

Hi karan,
I could wait for the explanation of your collages on TN, or just look at TL....:)
I agree with the idea of the artist and it really works well in all of your photos. I have to agree with Suzanne on the one in the middle being different from the rest. I also feel that having the 'horizon' on the same level would help create a more smooth transition from one photo to an other. But the result is beautiful and the idea is well executed.

Hello Karan,
A very pleasant collage!
Images are sharp with fine details, all captured in fine light...
Textbook quality, even if I'm curious about the colours...
Greetings,
Pablo -

another excellent image for the series karan :)
my favorite here would be the bottom left photo :) i think the shape and patterns would make some beautiful macros :)

Hello Karan
I think you are right... the objets are more interesting and attractive to look at, grouped together in a collage.
I like very much this composition. I like more your choice of bacgrounds in this photo.

Angeles
