[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi all,
just thought I'd sneak into Helen's Friday theme at the last minute! I took this on my way home from work earlier tonight at junction 6 of the M5, balancing my camera on the bridge parapet in the absence of a tripod. I think putting it in B&W has created quite an unusual effect, as these light trail shots are normally colour, for obvious reasons. I like it, anyway and it was all I could think of at short notice!
Shot in fine JPEG
Resized
Desaturated
Contrast increased to +40
Original colour version posted in workshop.
Cheers, John.
EDIT: Just realized we were supposed to shoot in "Natural Light"! Can I be forgiven the use of streetlights Smurfie? I don't get time to take photos during the day!

Hi John,I should think it's still natural light, good exposure time, with a strong composition.

Ron

Hi John,
This works well in B&W and I like the effect of the long exposure on the street lights, nice idea well done
Regards Andy

Hi John,
What a fantastic mono, I think the exposure is spot on
Marc

Morning Bro,

Good shot, I love the razor sharp stars on the street lights, and the fact you cannot see the lower part of them. To get shots with natural light you need to get up earlier ;0)

Cheers
Tom

Hi my friend,

Amazing conversion in BW. I am so used to seeing this POV in colours, but your representation of BW gives an interesting insight to this..

Hello John,

A beautifully captured scene. The luminosity in the noctural manner and that to monochrome is impressive. Such a fabullous shot my friend, well done.

Thanks for sharing this shot.

I like it John, the BW works well and I like the simplicity it lends to the shot. Cheers, Dad

Hi John,
Yes, it is unusual to see tail lights in black and white. I think it works very well.
I see that a lot more traffic is heading away than coming towards the camera. Rush hour maybe?
Cheers,
Pete.

Good morning John

Absolutely superb shot here, there have not been many night shots posted to this weeks theme and i think this one is excellent. The contrast and sharpness are very well suited to B.W yes this definately is a very sucessful transformation to B.W.

Lovely capture and an excellent idea for the theme

TFS and for joining in sorry for the delayed visit.

Kind regards Helen

I love this b&w shot of the M5, it looks perfect.. really effective long exposure ;o)

Thanks
