My two step-sisters run a cafe and tourist shop called "Castle Stalker View", which, funnily enough, overlooks the much-photographed Castle Stalker. As you can see, the view is spectacular and the food aint too bad either!
Just as I was finishing up here, aome guy turned up with some kind of medium-format behemoth of a camera. I felt a wee bit intimidated... ;-)
The contrast between the dazzling brightness of the sun and reflections in the water and the dark walls of the castle made this a difiult exposure. Even using a polarizer didn't help much. I think this was the best of the lot.
I've cropped out some irritating trees in the foreground, and some superfluous sky which detracted from the key features of the composition. I've applied a high-pass filter and then auto-levels. |

Interesting landscape, the sun-rays are well caught. I would have saturated a bit the green, but great nevertheless.
oh how beautiful David.. anyone who knows me knows that these scotish scenes just strike my heart like cupids arrows... this is such a wonderful view with those typically scotish hills in the distance and those equally typical stunning skies.. you're absolutely right about the reflection of the sun.. it's dazzling! the water seems so alive with the light dancing on it this way and i think you exposed it very well.. and of course castles are always a winner with me :D how lucky your step sisters are to be able to spend day after day with such an enchanting view... the name makes me think of being a 'castle stalker' which would be a pretty good discription of me! (mmmm.. aren't there laws against that now? ihihih) ooh it makes me want to move to scotland!! really fab shot David ^_^ - Ayda

However the light in the right-part is very good, the left-part is a little duller, I like this Scottish (as always I like the celtic countries....) landscape very well.
Peaceful, calm and quiet....
