[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Greenan Castle
Present castle built in the 15th century on the site of an ancient iron age fort. Research indicated that the original fort may well have been an Arthurian stronghold and one of the possible sites of Camelot.

This is just a 30 minute walk from Ayr town centre, as you can see well worth the effort.

Superb compo, POV and light. Excellent colors--the sand, the blue and pink sky, the green hill, the castle.

Hi Douglas.
Very nice excercise with the colour, structure and focus. I really love this pic, great photo. tfs. Stev

Superb shoot, I like too. The colors and the composition are very nice, the cloud on the castle is the little touch more for make a great picture.
Well done

Well seen subject Douglas!

The only criticism that I have is that the castle is too central. I'd crop away the bottom and left by about 25%. This will strengthen the compositional elements that remain a lot, especially the people in the distance. Keep the diagonal that breaks out in the left bottom corner. Saturation and exposure is perfect. Taking the shot from an even lower angle would also solve the composition balance. TFS

Good POV and nice framing Douglas. Lovely shot.

Hi there!
What an amazing shot!m The colours and detail are excellent. The D200 is awesome isnt it!?
I do feel however, that you should maybe have closed in more on the castle and put it more toward the left. But overall a great picture!

Hi Douglas,
I hope to see these kind of beauties myself this summer when I visit Scotland. It is sure nice that you mention where the photo was taken.
The V shape in the sky is very beautiful the yellow light balances the cliff in the photo perfectly. I like the way you used the beach to drawn me into the scenery. One small nit, the edge of the trees on top of the cliff are a bit too sharp.
TFS,
Niek

Someday I will get over to the United Kingdom...someday...I may never leave! Your pics make me want to go over there and spend a lifetime shooting! Wonderful shot!
