another from my trip to the highlands with douglas.
we pulled into a layby and went down the embankment to capture this.
the tree is slowly heading into the river due to erosion.

Critiques [Translate]

Hello Brian,
Knowing that you like HDR and other colour treatments, I wonder if the colours in your picture are "real" (especially on the rocks), but I admit that I have never been to that place and must say that your particular colour palette strikes me as very interesting. Somehow, these colour tones underline the feeling of impending doom - the imminent fall of the tree.
BTW: I notice that the tree is less sharp than the surrounding landscape. Due to heavy wind or was it really falling while you were photographing it? ;o)
Finally, I like your photo title "Gently falling". It somehow expresses the soul of a tree: deep serenity, even when things go wrong and the end is near... Many human beings would panic...
TFS & kind regards,
Erik

Hello trampas,

Beautifull landscape, the details of the rock and the tree are great .
Excellent light and colors, dramatic sky with clouds.
Good sharpness and contrast.
Have a good week end.

Hi Brian,
This is a wonderful landscape that you enhanced by a strong and balanced composition. This tree leaning towards the river draws our attention and allows to see behind it the perspective on the far mountains. Powerful representation of this desolate rocky place.Your colored treatment is rightly done without exaggeration. My compliments! Annie

Hello Sir!
Beautiful scenery in a wonderful POV.
Marvellous texture and colors.

The composition is great, mostly I like the inclusion of tree here as it add drama to the scene. Also, a pin sharp from FG to BG, nice realization. The only thing that bothered me is the highlights that visible in the edges of the mountain at the right. It is done by PP? overall, very nice execution.

tfs....Buddy

Hi Brian,

Another fine HDR, near perfect execution, really just sums up the day, superb.

Douglas

great composition with lovely colors...
wonderful HDR...great work!

Hi Mr Nobody (Ha! Ha!),
I like the shot, so colourful and alive. I like the density of the forms and tones. HDR processing maybe? The overcast sky seems to add to the dramatic aspect of it. I like it.
TFS.

This one is great - composition and successful delivery of HDR (I presume) are crucial to its success. The flow of colour through the frame, from the cooler hues at the upper left, to the very warm tones at lower right, is supported by the diagonal of the tree drawing the eye downwards.
Very effective shot indeed!

Hello hello :)

I like that!
Good contrast of light and color. Well managed depth.
In short, excellent capture!!!

Cheers
Carla

Hi,
Lovely landscape,Perfect expose ; nice composition, sharp colours, nice frame.

Nice ambience here. Your tree theme is not strong enough to distract me from the charm of the landscape. What a depth of view!

A perfect Highland Postcard, Brian - colours and tones spot on, very well composed and nothing I'd change. One of those pics I wish I'd taken. Really is a nice image with lots to keep the eye interested - the leading line of the clifftop leads us nicely into the heart of the scene. Really a splendid image.

Brian,
I did a workshop and left my "critique" there so I am marking this comment as a critique, it would be useless to copy and paste it onto here!
I hope you consider what I did as an alternate view of this already cool photo. Nice work,
Scott

Hi Brian,
I assume this is also the River Etive. I like the peat colored water in the FG and the most wonderful peak to the distant vista. The rather central placement of the tree works well. It feels as if there is a light rim along the edge of the rock. Something that happens with the HDR technique.

Niek

The tree is very catched inhere, and sort of free hanging in the air, well done.
The weather is not perfect but made the best of it.
