Back to my bee saga. Out chasing bees again yesterday morning, harmed with some tips from Helen (helkoryo). I tried shooting in sports mode but to no avail. I just wasn't quick enough to follow Helen's trick of focusing in auto mode then quiclky moving onto sports mode. Maybe the bees in my garden are formula one models. Despite my misgivings about the advice to use a tripod, a gave that a go too. Impossible, a tripod is a far too unweildy piece of a equipment for the job of bee chasing. And anyway, I have some quite tall flowers, too high for the tripod. The one pictured is chest high. Anyway, i got lucky with this bee. Bigger than the formula one models (its more of a Tonka truck) it seems happy to stay put, lazily sampling the delights of this flower. So as my camera was still fixed to the tripod , I lifted it up and braced it against myself, gripping a leg between mine (a comical sight!).Best I could do for now but not perfectly focused and so I have cheated by lassoo sharpening. I'm going out again after tea to try again. Some more bees........ Helen's bee is here and Silke has a fine fellow (although he must be a learner 'cos he's checking out grass) here
maybe we should have a bee theme?

Hiya Bev

Well done thats a million times better, maybe a slightly shorter DOF but your certainly getting the hang of it. Much sharper with good detail and superb colours. Love the framing too.

You did really well here because they really dont hang about do they :-)
TFS kind regards Helen

P.S.I shot mine at f2.8 and the lens was about 6 inches from the bee

Hello Bev,
Nice sharp details and interesting colours combined with a great composition makes this a very eye catching picture.

Hello Bev
I love the amazing details on your busy bee! The pink flower really complements and looks very interesting..

Hi Bev

I had to smile about your description of the bee hunt because it really mimicks my own. However I have much less success than you had with this shot. Excellent clarity n the bee - I like the way its "fur" is even sharper than the detail on the bottle brush.

Nice colour and composition too.
