Winter is on its way and a store of food has been made ready for birds and mammals. The hawthorn is used extensively in Europe as a hedge plant. They provide food and shelter for many species of birds and mammals. Its blossoms are important for many nectar feeding insects.

I have noticed a lot of berries on the trees this year, must be in for a hard winter.
