Trawling through my files I found this taken in March last year. I have enjoyed all the excitement of the snow but this reminds me that spring is knocking on our door and I for one am ready to answer it. There are snowdrops out and the birds are singing in that special way that tells of springtime. This view is taken from the edge of a wood called Woodcockair which is close by the river Annan at Hoddam. This is a walk much enjoyed by our old dog who loves to chase rabbits here. She tears through the woods at breakneck pace but suffers for it afterwards as she is getting arthritic. We will have to start keeping her on the lead but that will take all the fun out of life for her. Worse still for her, we have a young whippet who she would hate to see having all the fun.

Hi Bev,

This is a very nice shot with a beautiful sky the clouds moving softly and the grass looking a great shade of green. I can see that the leaves have not fully grown but the trees are budding nicely. TFS

hello

nice composition...love the color tone...and its mood...tfs

:-)

Hello Bev,

That rickety 5 bar gate - backed up by a more modern metal one - makes a good starting point for the eye to run across the image.

A satisfying composition, with strong warm colours in the FG, and a fine sense of perspective provided by those little houses on the slope of the distant hill.

A lovely sky, and the blue of the farthest hills on the left adds the final touch.

I know how your old dog feels - my days of running through the woods are a distant memory now!

Regards,

Peter.

Hello Bev
Spring waking up is a ways off for us but like you we do look forward to seeing the birds come back.
The scenery is beautiful and well rendered and I can imagine a pleasant walk with the dog, its sad to see them get old, but I am sure that even with the lead he will enjoy it.

Hi,
Wishful thinking Bev. If you need any extra rabbits....

A pleasant open view over the dyke and nicely lit from the side with the shadows adding depth. Possibly the foreground brown stuff has too much fine detail for this format and would probably show much better in a larger size or a print, but certainly a spring-loke feel. Thanks.
Dougie.

hello Bev,
A nice view over the fields and yes, a great place for the dogs to chase rabbits and to relive the chase while curled up in front of the Aga.
Nice natural light and colours.
Joni

A nice reminder that spring is on the way - crisp bright colours and lots of interesting details. It looks like excellent countryside for walking dogs of all ages :-)
Thanks for sharing
Mark
