The North Sea pounds the Lothian coast and this volcanic plug called the Bass Rock guards the entrance to the busy shipping lanes on the Firth of Forth.
Normally home of 1000's of gannets in the spring and summer - where are they just now |

Hi Chris,
A great vantage point to capture the impressive rock. I've only seen it once during a sunny break on a summer day. But from a greater distance. The weather here seems to fit the scenery perfectly. The photo does look under exposed and can be solved with a level adjustment. I am a bit surprised about the quality level. Is this a heavy crop?

Niek

Hi!
I like this one.
You have captured the dark atmosphere of a North Sea storm very well.
The crop is good, making a very effective composition.
The building at the island is an important eyecatcher.

Love the threatening look here Chris. It sure looks like a fierce wind!
I love the way the light is focused on the waves...
I read on the news that for this night and tomorrow they are expecting more stormy winds and rain... I sure hope you all get through this in good health!
Take care!

Wauv, Chris.
This is really impressive, I'm not sure if you have kept it dark by purpose, but it hides some beautiful details (please see WS...).
Very powerful composition and your timingenhances this.
Excellent.
