[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I decided to chance walking along the East Lothian coast line today from Gullane. I had sat in my car for over an hour as the rain was so heavy. I had almost decided to leave when the clouds parted and gave me a chance to walk.

This lighthouse is called Fidra and sits opposite the small village of Direlton in East Lothian. When the tide is out it leaves the sand very flat and usually un-walked on.

The sea however returns with such speed up the Firth of Forth that as you walk out towards the point I took the picture you have to remember how quick and powerfull the sea is. The sea will come right up and over all but the highest of the rocks in the foreground.

I took the picture just as the weather turned and the rain once again threatened. I was lucky to get back the couple of miles to the car before the rain once again started.

Worth the walk just to see the power of the sea.

Hi John,

A petty that you were so far away from the lighthouse or that you were not bale to zoom in more. I think a crop with help the photo. There is too much beach and the horizon is directly in the middle of the photo. So crop something of the beach and some of the left to keep to the rule of third.

Hi John

Perhaps a zoom, & sharper lens, would have strengthened this shot? But color, lighting, & composition, are all superb. I like the horizontal layering. Good work overall.

You'll see how fast is the improvement here. In fact seing and contrasting photos and opinions is the best stimulous to it. This is addicting!!!
Here the sky, the lighthouse and the rocks are very interesting, but the sand below is a little monotonous and too wide (the texture is very good). I perhaps would croop out most of it, and also a narrow stripe in the left border to get the lighthouse in place following the thirds rule. (Its only an idea).
I like this picture and please continue sharing your work.
