Had a day at Edinburgh zoo yesterday never rained for a change but was very windy this is Mercedes the polar bear took a few shots but actually got him after a swim he was rescued from the wild in 1983 to avoid being shot for being a nuisnance to inhabitants of Churchill BC she has given birth to two cubs since then .the Polar bears are now conservation dependtant so this gives the breed a chance to survive Edinburgh Zoo is now a lot more conservation friendly and have mostly species that are threatened or endangered ty for looking.i took this shot in Raw format had to take it thourgh 2inch thick perpsex glass so not as clear as i hope i resized give a couple of little tweaks here and there before uplaoding

Hi Bryan,
A beautiful capture. Nicely composed photo of this Polar bear. I like the way he is shaking the water off him. Well done and TFS Julie

Interesting and original capture Bryan! Good job to try to grab a shot in mid-shake .. and I think you've done a pretty good job! Hard to know exactly where the focus is if anywhere, but .. I wouldn't know where to focus either. Was your camera in action mode?
(Oh, may I just correct you - he was likely rescued from Churchill Manitoba, not BC:)
Trudy

Hi Mr Bryan :)
Congratulations!!! very good timing.Greetings from Istanbul.
Deniz:)

Hi Bryan

Nicely timed shot.
Well captured with good details.
You must have used quite a fast shutter speed to freeze the action.

Hi Bryan,
This is a nice shot - It has been a few years since I was at the Zoo and it looks like Mercedies is nice and healthy - better than being shot I supose!
You have done well to get this through the thick screen with minimal distortion well done.
Best wishes
Bri

Hello Bryan,

Oh, well done!
Sharp focus on this action shot!
The details of the spraying water droplets clearly indicate the movement.
The image is wwell positioned in the frame.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Bryan,
The suspended water certainly provide extra 'oomph' in this capture. Mercedes is well framed and I do hope she is happy. Well done my friend. Cheers.

Hi Bryan,

What a spawny so and so but a brilliant shot out of focus but that's because of the bears movement. The spray is magic she must have been soaking wet and I think you have captured every particle of water with great detail well done.

Jon

Hi Bryan
Contrary to what people think polar bears fur is not white but sort of creamy color and when wet looks a bit yellowish.
I love this shot, it sends the smell of wet fur!!!
She gave you your money's worth and you got a very nice shot.
Dot

nice shot of this polar bear, Bryan.. few months back i saw documentary about this animal.. very interesting indeed.. esp. mating season the male can smell the female from 300 miles away and go and find her.. during mating sometime the male did not survive because of the violent sex act by the female.. ok enough.. im sure you know about it.. hehehe..

anyway i like this where the formation of the water freeze at the time you took the shot.. nice work..

regards, terry

Wonderful moment you caught dear Bryan.Very beautiful picture:))
