Now this is what I call real fast food!

The sign on this little shed by the cottages at Crail harbour announces that you can have "Lobster cooked while you wait" as well as purchasing dressed crab too.

Outside the shed lies a stack of lobster pots and this cottage is only about 30 yards from the harbour, a photo of which I must post soon. This shows up well on GoogleEarth if you click on [map].

Crail is the most easterly of the coastal villages in the East Neuk of Fife and is probably the quaintest of them all. It lies about 10 miles south of St. Andrews, which is famous for having the oldest of the Scottish universities (founded in 1411 A.D.) and also, traditionally, being the home of golf.

Shot in RAW using a circular polariser and converted and edited in PSE6.

hi 'long john' tyro.
this is how i imagine all small harbour villages to be.

you have captured this with great detail and superb colours. the composition is nicely handled. even what little of the horizon is visible is level. i commend you for your attention to detail.

Hi John,

Lovely image of a wonderful corner of Scotland, lovely sharp clear detail, I really must get over to the east again soon. You must be delighted with the detail you are getting from the Tamron.

Douglas

It's good to see a nice, sharp photo not destroyed with editing.

Hi John,
Even if Atlantic Ocean is between us, this picture talks a lot to me! Lobster is a great halieutic resource in my area! This year, the season is good but the price, not! 2,75 $ to 3,50$ per pound, the lowest price for the last 30 years. Interesting for the consumer, but dramatic for the industry! Is it the same case in Scotland?

Very clear and crisp image! The colors are vivid and the details and textures very well rendered! Bravo! Annie

Hi Stranger

Nice sharp details and well exposed image.
Look light the sun was quite bright from the shadows of the table.
Well composed shot.
This is certainly my kind of fast food.

Great image that tells a story and shows some local flavor. You filled the frame very well and provided the detail in the sign to tell the story. You also handled the light really well. TFS

Hi John,

This is my kind of place!! Great details of the stone building. Interesting to show the lobster traps too. So many interesting textures. Repetitive patterns are interesting too. I think if I lived there, I could eat every meal at this place!! :)

Hello John
Wonderful details throughout the whole shot, from the lamp on the building to the pots in the fg. The texture of the stonework is well shown. The polariser has done a perfect job. I must try shooting in RAW soon.
Regards, Les

Wonderful colours and details. The stone work is beautiful. Fife is probably my favourite county in Scotland outside of the Highlands. (I lived in Kirkcaldy as a teenager)
