I came across this sad scene on the way up to the Quiraing on the Isle of Skye. Just nature in the raw.

Such an apt title - a fantastic juxtaposition of the two. That really is an amazing landscape and you've captured it so well, with the blending technique giving a superb range of colours and a beautifully controlled dynamic.

The carcass in the foreground - well placed in the frame, by the way - is grim but not overly gruesome, so its poignant role is played well.

Hi Douglas,
Great shot with a fantastic composition, it gets you thinking there are some lonely places in the UK. The colours and DoF are fantastic and again you have done a superb job on the PP work. TFS

A truly striking photo, Douglas. Nature as it is. Raw. A struggle for life. Not meant to be beautiful, but you need the human eye to discover beauty in it.
Here, your photographer's eyes did the job. Compositionally, you show an interesting interaction between the gentle landscape and the dead animal. They seem to be each other's opposites, but somehow, the dead body follows the lines of the landscape whereas some landscape lines draw our attention to it...
The intense (HDR) colours add to the drama. Maybe a B&W version of this photo would still be more dramatic...
TFS & kind regards,
Erik

Hi Douglas,
A very sharp capture of this landscape with marvelous lighting.
The title suites well with the subject but the beauty of nature surpasses the skeleton of the dead animal.
Very neat presentation in an elegant frame.

Francis Xavier

Hi Douglas,

As you mentioned in your note, though it is a sad scene, but a very true one. You showed the laws of Nature.
What great play of light and shadows. The green and grey colors, bring nice mood into the picture. The clarity is great and so is the sharpness. The POV is exceptionally well chosen. Well done!

best regards,
Paras

Hello Douglas,

Yes, this is Nature in the raw.
Your photograph has wonderful richness of colour and great depth. The dof maintains the interest all the way.
The sad image is perfectly placed in the frame and the slope of the hills gives a diagonal composition.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Geez what is that? Yeti? Bigfoot?? Yikes! I love the striking contrasts here Douglas! How cool is that? Hope you kept Brian out of it! I can just see him skinning the poor thing and making a coon skin cap! Nice work on this!

B-)
Linda
