Another from my trip with Brian, this was a long dead Caledonian pine tree along the banks of the river Etive.
I noticed a small Rowan tree in front of it with nice fresh red berries.

I love twisty knotty textures like this Douglas! The bits of red are a nice addition, to break up the patterns of the leaves. I tend to drag stuff like this home! I plan a trip to central Texas this weekend, to run a 5K, but also to check out the drought areas, lakes and fields for things like this! Another great shot!

Wonderful capture, lovely colors and contrast.

This is like a painting from the Renesance Era. Truly remarkable use of the rule of thirds with great FG interest adding to the composition. Great work!

cheers,

Hi Douglas,
I like the abstract look of this photo. The windswept grass in the back fills the frame nicely and allows for great attention to the old and new tree. The texture in the dead pine is most wonderful. The contrast of the red rowan berry is great and really pops out of the screen.

Hello Douglas, I, too, like shots of interesting pieces of old wood like this.
A good composition imo;the red berries really add to the shot.
Good sharpness.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hi Douglas,
it's a pleasure to see this picture. The green and red colors are so fresh. Nice composition and contrast.
