Good detail and I like the background for the wire. Sort of disturbing and sad theme here, but you've done a good job for one of your first attempts at this kind of focus. Very nice colors and good use of low natural lighting. I would recommend cropping a sliver off the bottom to get rid of the distracting thing (can't tell what it is) at the bottom. I would also crop somewhat off the top because the top of the background is a little too bright and thus also acts as a distractor. Making a horizontal cropping would really help this photo and do your work justice. Great shot and thanks for sharing!

this is the correct technique craig..
differential focus..can be used in a lot of situations..
hit the hard button on the sharp stuff and suppress the out of focus material
and in this shot ..as in most..including my own..take out any unwanted items especially near the edges..all easier said than done
try using flash as well
