We travelled from Aberdeen to Inverness... on the way we diverted to the coast..here between Porttanachy and Spey Bay.. I took this shot.. I loved the rocks on the beach, I collected a few.. but thought later, as I was due to come home they were a bit big/heavy for the suitcase, so left them behind, and I wasnt sure if New Zealand Customs would be happy with me bringing them into NZ...although I did sneak a few little ones from different places in UK... :-)

I'll not ask where you hid the stones as you went through customs... :-)

I like the composition here, the extensive use of the pebbly beach foreground works well and the tide-line of the branches/twigs leads us nicely through the shot. It looks like a low cloud base there, and that contains the scene nicely. Nice photo, cuzzy!

hi dawn, good composition, details and colors, i love wide angle shots-they can be tricky and you did very well here, very cool to look at,

F11?

Anyway. This is how I imagine Scotland's coast so it's nice to have vindication of the picture in my mind. Beautifully even metering throughout this shot. Very nice deep field of focus.

Hi Awatea
I miss seeing your pics in the NZ folder!!
No wonder your suitcases were overweight!! I suppose you wanted to bring home half this beach lot. Go down to Napier and bring some home from there...
Good compo, and the textures from the sky and stones and driftwood contrast well.
Good night
Janice

A very moody image with a fine dof.
Superb PoV with the pebbles giving a great texture to the foreground

Hi Dawn
The f11 is a great tip.. I love the full screen version!

Love the look here of the twig on the clean rocks... Nice addition of the house on the left.. I wonder if they know how lucky they are

Tricia...

ps we went over the weight limit last vac. due to school book! But always bring back some shells and stuff no issues YET!

Lovely to follow that line of driftwood in the picture and only then I look at the house.
Hi Dawn,

have to try that F11 - did not know that!

Thanks for the tip and the picture,

Els
