[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi
My submission to this week's theme is a rather sad one.

We were out walking one day at Kerelaw Castle ruin and came across a bench where a poor lifeless moorhen had been laid out by someone. There seemed to be no evidence of foul play....however I am ashamed to say that the texture and length of the toes fascinated me!

We rarely see the feet of a these birds as they are usually under water - so I snapped this shot and said a wee prayer!

Pic was sharpened, colours adjusted and vignette effect added to hide the fact I cut some of the talons off! (First week with my camera! LOL!)

What good detail you've caught here. Wouldn't have thought they belonged to a moorhen. The colours are really good against the b/g.

I first thought they were beans or a plant when I saw the thumbnail.
You are right - we rarely ever get to see these toes (alive) up close like this. Amazing colours and textures, and what long talons it has.

As you say a little sad but an interesting compo non the less with good colour and sharp detail. I like what you did with the PP to hide the crop and thats a handy one to remember. I maybe would have cropped a little from the right of the shot to make it less central
