Just a picture taken from the roadside near Glenfarg during the glorious weather we had in Scotland this last bank holiday weekend when people farther south had to suffer heavy rains and winds.
I loved the colour and the sheen on the coat of this fine animal. I had my polarising filter on and I'm not quite sure if I had it orientated correctly to make the most of the light on the animal's coat: I had been using it a few seconds earlier for its effect on the sky in some other pictures.
Those much more knowledgeable than me might be able to tell me what breed of cattle-beast (as they call them in Scotland) this is. All I know is that grass goes in one end and milk comes out the other.
Shot in RAW and converted and edited in PSE6.

Wonderful colorful and sharp presentation. A very well done Daily Life, Food and Nature presentation. Congratulations - As always an excellent note, as well.

TFS!
Hello John,
The sun shining from the right directly along the cow's side has brought out the textures very well.
Set against the BG of the other cows on the dull green grass, and the distant field of rape, this is a fine composition.
The black and white cows here are British Friesians - the red and white ones are probably the same breed, but this colour is usually much less common, although some farmers seem to favour them.
Regards,
Peter.
Hi John,
a very nice shot. Cows are an excellent photo theme.
Please have a look there.
