A valley I discovered on the road through Glen Shee, just north of Blairgowrie that in turn is north of Perth. The mist made the place look magical and mysterious as if if I were to look away it would disappear. We had parked the car at a stopping place and luckily I got out of the car to see what I could see. And there down below was this wonderful view.
Some of my TL friends who are also members of TE will recognise this from a picture I uploaded on TE. This however, is not exactly the same picture but was taken at the same time. Still not as sharp as it should be perhaps but i think just a little sharper. Tyro (John) advised me to purchase a tripod so that a scene like this would not be compromised by lack of sharpness. I took his advice and hope that when the weather permits I will be out taking pin sharp pictures! John also told me how to create borders other than black and although he told me ages ago I have just this morning got around to mastering the technique. So thanks again John.So I thought I would upload this and I hope John will find the time to tell me what he thinks. Am I a good pupil? Is this image any sharper than the previous one?

Very atmospheric landscape Bev, and you are right the mist gives it a magical feel.

As for sharpness, probably 8 out of 10, but still a marvellous image.

Peter

These scenes sometimes lend their selves to a softness it can create a different mood. This capture has an almost painterly quality.Good composition and a title that suits.

Good advice from John too

Michael

Hi Bev,

Splendid view! Beautiful colours, mist and overall composition of photo. Well done & TFS :]

Greetings from Poland,
Pawel

Hi Bev! Although it lacks on sharpness and pixel quality, I like the timing of the shot and how you framed all the elements. Very nice perspective and smoky atmosphere.
Cheers!
Freddie :)

Hello Bev,

This a lovely picture - the soft tones and the mist enhance an excellent composition.

Your choice of f16 and 1/25 sec meant you needed a steady hand to avoid camera shake. I'm sure you now realise you could have used a wider aperture here, and a faster shutter speed as a result.

Actually, I think all it needs is a touch of sharpening.

I have tried a WS.

Regards,

Peter.

nice scenery, interesting athmosphere and soft colours

Hi, Bev,
It's a pity it's blurry, or at least it looks so. But the expanse of space looks great and various.
It looks like an oil painting.
A beautiful morning scenery.
Keen observant eye you've got, Bev,

Hi Bev,

A lovely scene but with a short telephoto zoom it's almost Impossible to take a sharp photo at 1/25. With your new tripod you will see a huge difference right away. I look forward to many razor sharp shot's.

Hello, Bev.

Gosh, I'm flattered! I didn't realise you'd taken my last comments quite so much to heart! Now look - I'm no expert - "Tyro" means an amateur or novice, after all, and that's what I am.

This one is, however, much better than the TE one, though, as Peter (chefcop) says, it's not quite sharp enough.

I'm sorry to say that I have just posted a workshop for you and now I see that the other Peter (graffer) has already done one for you! I'm going to have a dekko at that right now.

Still, apart from the sharpness, this is a lovely picture - very well composed and with beautiful autumnal colours.

Very Best Wishes,

John.

P.S. Fabulous frame!!! :o)

Hi Bev
This is a beautiful pastoral scenery with a wonderful point of view and very nice elements. The place is colorful and the point of view you chose is perfect as well as the depth of field. It could be sharper though and I think Tyro did a good job in his workshop.

Hah Blairgowrie is where we spend our 25th wedding anniversary. We were staying with the family Rattray.
In Perth we parked the car and did not have the exact change to pay the parking fee and up came a couple that offered to pay it for us - turned out they had family living only a few minutes from where we live - good start to our holiday!
.
Ah the picture - oh yes a tripod help immensely when making gorgious landscape pictures like this.
Thanks for working on improvement!

Hello Bev,
THis is a lovely peek at the valley. It appears mysterious with the athmospheric conditions. Well done. Danilo

What a beautiful scene with rich color tones and a great POV.
It may not be very sharp, but I personally think it would make for a great painting.
I like how there are more than 1 different kinds of trees in the shot.
Well done.
TFS!

Hello Bev,
It looks like a dream painting.
Soft focus really works here to give that effect. TFS

Hi Bev,

as you mention this is not a sharp image, I somehow thought that it was a great "effect" that you have created before I read your notes! :D I like the colours, the "softness" on the photo created a mood, well captured, nice composition and colours, a bit like a painting too, :D

Well done,

Cheers,
Sweety

A lovely iamge Bev. Nicely composed with good even colour and the fog really adds a nice dimension. What must be remembered with a lot of fog shots isthat sharpness doesn't look right anyway, there will always be a small amount of blur. As for tripods, I have one and rarely use it :). TFS,
David

Many thanks for your comment on ‘Mili Mili and Fog I’

Magical, Bev! I thought for a moment from the thumbnail that this was a painting. Clearly, the reality is even better. I love the soft colors, the changing dimensions, the very mood that the meandering mists lend to this image. It has a quaint and most engaging feel. The parts are pleasing; and the whole is greater than the proverbial sum of them.

Congratulations,
Jim

P.S. -- FWIW, I'm normally a stalwart fan of sharpening. In this case, though, I like your original better than the sharpened one in the workshop. I think the softness is a big part of what makes this picture work.
