Took this in august when out for a walk down by the ettrick. I was looking back when I took this shot so the water is just of the left. I hope that you like it.

Nice image, and well composed, Jon. This is a nice image. The path really leads the viewer's eye down the path. My main nit is the high level of contrast here (on my monitor). I would see if you could reduce the contrast a bit to leave details in the bright as well as dark areas. I think I would play with moving the path a bit, though, to get more of a diagonal feeling that contunies through the whole image -- from left fg to right bg. I think a couple steps to the right, and perhaps forward, and pan the camera a bit to the left too might have improved the composition (though I have no idea what else might have been in your way).

Hi Jon,
Inspired composition and nice colour you've got. I admit that is quite difficult to work on HDR content and don't know whether working on shinny areas you loose this magic colour of wood shadow. It is still nice like this.

Hello Jon,
Very beautiful photo with fantastic colours and a superb compo. The strong light in the end of the way gives a great magic atmosphere. Congrats, mb

Hello Jon,
I like walking. It is nice and healthy job. Wood is dark but I think without wolfs. Romantic good photo.

Best regards,

Hi Jon
I like most of what you have done. This is a tough scene to master because of the strong light and dark shadows. The camera cant deal with this much contrast. Some solutions - use a tripod - take three images, one exposed for the shade, one for the bright and a third in the middle and blend them in your software.

Dan

A really strong composition, with the path neatly winding through the dark, brooding forest to lead to the bright light in the distance - like something out of a fairy tale. I agree with the other comments about the contrast and would offer another suggestion other than the HDR route - take the picture at a time of day when the sun is lower in the sky, when the light is more golden than white. Just a thought...
