I don't usually bother with sheep because they are so difficult to get right with the reflections from the wool, but these two looked good and actually stood still for more than a second to give me a quick glare.
The land around here and also toward Kelso seems to lie at just the right angles to catch the superb low evening light. |

Hi Dougie,
Ewe got this one just perfect and can't these sheep glare. I like the way the light hits the ewe and lamb, sound like the name for a pub, highlighting there faces and the front part of the torso. Great focal point with nice dof well done.
Regards
Jon

Hello Dougie
Great use of the evening light, and it has given real depth to both the ewe's and the lambs coats, showing the different texture of the lambs short wool. Sheep are often over exposed or 'flat' looking in photos, these are just great.

You know? I've looked at this shot a few times and aside from that wonderful side lighting and excellent exposure, lovely detail and perfect mirrored expressions, there was something I liked about it I couldn't figure out. It's the two sheep in the BG who nearly mirror the front two with their backs turned with the wrong one being taller. Makes kind of a strangely attractive effect. Nicely done! Many thanks and kind regards,
Shelly
