Another dismal day in the Scottish borders, but I think Smailholm Tower always looks good no matter what the weather.

Hope you agree

Lets hope September is a little kinder

I always recognise the small size when it is of a certain photographer in the UK and it is about Scotland*__*

Hi Peter,

Well I would agree, but then we are biased, living as we do in one of the world's loveliest countries. Whatever the weather we are spoilt, a little bird tells me summer in Scotland starts on Sunday. Lovely shot of a lovely area.

hello Peter,
i think this picture looks best in this kind of light, itbeing more true to the atmosphere of these places.Nicely composed with the water to the foreground.

Hello, Peter.

This is wonderful - it has really captured that atmosphere we get on wet drizzly days in Scotland. You can almost smell the wet grass. Nice and clear and sharp too.

If I have any criticism, it's just that the frame might be just a tad too heavy for the picture, but that's just personal taste.

Kind Regards,

John.

Hi Peter

Wonderfully composed scene and stunning details captured from FG to BG. It may be a dismal day but it gave you some interesting light and a great sky.

Hello Peter a beautifull location and well composed shot with fine detail and sharpness tfs rgds Necip.

Hi Peter,
That is one of the beauties of Scotland. The old towers and buldings that are scattered around the country and mostly located in wonderful pieces of nature. Like this tower, no other buildings are modern infrastructure to bother the view, just beuatiful nature.
I like you composition, where the lake and the larger rock on the left draw the eye toward the tower. The warm color tone does fit the photo perfectly. A bit more color in the sky would have been nice.

Niek

Hi Peter

I like the reflections in the mid bg lake, which is well placed in the frame just below the centre. Good diffused light with excellent colour & sharpness. Tfs!

Hello Peter !

Although the sky is overexposed ( due to the diofficult light conditions ) , I like a lot the image. It blends very well with the landscape creating a gentle light and mood. Tower well spotted in your image for the ultimate composition.

Cheers!
Robert

Hi Peter, it is a nice composition and it's a good looking tower. I think you have made the best of conditions here but I do feel a little sunshine would work wonders. Nice work.

Hi Peter,
Lovely landscape, captured nicely. The DOF, detail and sharpness are excellent. The moody sky very good and the earthly colors great!

Hi Peter,
Beautiful scene. I like the low POV you used here, getting close to the ground and the grass. Well done.
Sunil

The dull weather, although making photography more difficult, does provide this wonderful soft light which to me speaks of wild and open places. Great stuff Peter.
