Hi Bryan,
I love B&W images and this one is no exception, I think you may have over sharpened it a bit by the effect you have with the whisps of hair and I think, on a personal note, I would have enhanced the two light bits in her eyes to give her that little bit sparkle/mischevious look.(have a look at 'Local Celeb, P2 and Ash P5 in my gallery for examples) I love the vinegette effect and the fading you have created around the edges. TFS
Bri

Hi Bryan,

Is this the start o' yer pro career as a portrait photog. Great shot except for the minute over sharpening love the fading gives the shot a very pro feel to it well done.

Regards
Jon

Hi Bryan, this is a good B&W portrait of your cute niece. I like the slightly off-center placement of her in the frame, and the hint of vignetting (how do you spell that word???). As the other two laddies have already mentioned, yes - there is some over sharpening, especially on her hair, but also on her eye lids. keep shooting! This is better than anything I could have pulled off.

Hi Bryan,
This is a nice portrait, good black and white tones, pretty sharp and clear exposition. My only remark is that you could have chosen another crop, I think a bit more space at the top over her had would make a better composition. But overall I like your image, TFS!
Greetings,
Kristof

Shes a braw looking lassie and the vignetting adds a touch of glamour. I think in portraiture you should err on the side of soft focus rather than sharpening as has been mentioned. Nice job
warm regards
David

she is adorable :) and you've made such a beautiful portrait of her:)

good morning bryan,
looks very professional and i do like the high key treatment. rachel has a sweet smile and sounds like she is an active happy young girl. i wonder how the image would look with a softer version - but honestly i don't know how to quite do it. i would be very happy if i took this photo myself. congratulations for a job well done. best regards...

Bryan, a lovely portrait of your lovely niece, to be sure. The workshop version is astounding. I would have posted that first and foremost. That's why we have all the tools at hand! To enhance and make a better presentation. The old saying: "The camera never lies!" Isn't true! I agree with a couple other critiquers. You over sharpened the original a bit too much. But the workshop, soft focus, version makes up for all that. Print and frame that for your niece and parents. They will love you even more than they do now!
