[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This was taken when out with TL member Derona we had started to at Rosebery Reservoir with no joy eventually going to Portmore Loch were we had some success. Afterward we headed to Peebles for a coffee and to gather our thought about where to take some photo's and headed to manor bridge the back way. After not having a lot of luck because of lighting we went down to the tweed car park and walked along the tweed for a while until we saw the Neidpath Castle which was on the other side. This view shows the extent of the damage caused supposedly by Cromwell's Army and which has never been repaired. I took 3 bracketed shot(.0 +.7 -.7) and was shot in raw and converted to tiff as an experiment and used Photomatix for the merging to HDR .

I hope that you like this and all c and c's are welcome.

Hi Jon,never thought that this was an HDR,which is an indicator of it being very well done. I like your POV gives us a good feel for the architecture, like the effect it has on the sky too. Well seen & taken.I like the inclusion of the two poles they give scale to the castle.

regards

Ron

Hello Jon,

The colours are very rich but I would not really have suspected that this was HDR without your notes. Obviously a competent shot.
Pleasing composition with interesting details throughout. (I'm a sucker for historical buildings!)

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Interesting old place ... nothing nearly that old in this country!
Nice job on this one ... the colors are so vivid and bright, and you've composed it nicely with the little grassy frame at the bottom. It seems like ye old castle might have a slight lean to the right .. or maybe that's just ye that has a slight lean to the right :)

Hi Jon,
Beautiful shot of the castle, you have carried out the HDR on this brilliantly bringing out colours and showing the finer detail, I am always guilty of oversaturating but this is great. Cheers

Hi Jon
Nice shot, sharply focused, strong colours and contrast, good sky. Tempting me to visit a few castles and old abbeys next weekend now..!
