took this shot yesterday made to big mistake of not checking my settings ist my iso was at 3000 so had to a bit of pp work shot in raw then resized decreaseed saturation by about 20% and a viningete light filter to give the foggy effect added border before uploading hope it s ok ty for looking a brief not about the tower below

Smailholm Tower was originally built in the 15th century or early 16th century by the Pringle family.[2] Followers of the Earl of Douglas, the Pringle (anciently spelt Hoppringle) family had held the lands of Smailholm from the early 15th century, and managed part of Ettrick Forest for their feudal superior.
Smailholm Tower was designed, in common with all Scottish peel towers, to provide its occupants with protection from sporadic English raids. The tower was attacked by English soldiers in 1543, 1544 and again in 1546, when the garrison of Wark Castle sacked the tower and carried off prisoners and cattle. The castle was successfully defended against the English in 1640, by Sir Andrew Ker of Greenhead.
Smailholm was obtained by the Scotts of Harden around this time.[3] The Scotts, ancestors of Sir Walter, rebuilt parts of the tower and barmkin. In the 18th century the tower decayed, after the family moved into nearby Sandyknowe. The last owner, the Earl of Ellesmere, handed the property into state care in 1950. It was restored in the 1980s, and now operates as a museum

Hi Bryan

Very nice shot of Smailholm Tower.
Like you POV here, different angle from a lot of shot we see of this tower.
Also like your PP work here, it just looks perfect for this old tower.

Hi Bryan

Good pp work to salvage the shot. I like the dreamlike, high keytoned, oof border. Superb graphism of the dark castle ruins, against the lighter bg, with excellent shadow detail, and sharpness. Tfs!

Impresionante foto y el tratamiendo de difuminado dandole una agradable sensacion a unas ruinas abandonadas
un saludo

A wonderful capture of this old tower with superb details.
Very good lighting and sharpness.
You did an excellent PP work with a nice vignette, and omitting every trace of noise!
Great presentation and artistically produced.
Well done,

Hi Bryan,

Great view of the historical tower with wonderful sharpness and beautifully toned colors of the building-bricks!
The clouds bring mood into the picture and the frame is just beyond imagination, suits perfect to this kind of composition.
Great job!

thanks and regards,

PS: Pardon me, I have already crossed my point-limit for today, otherwise I would love to award more than one smiley for this capture. Please bear with me.

Hi Bryan,

I thinks it is time to sit down for a little RTM and CYS therapy but in saying that by doing pp work the mistake has given rise to a very good photo after all. I think that this would be really good without the vignette filter imho this is a very natural shot good details but a bit heavy on the frame side.

Regards
Jon

Hi Bryan,
You have created a very atmospheric mood with your PP work and adding the viningete, I think this would also look brilliant in B&W or Sepia. cHEERS

hello bryan,
you have put your pp skills to good effect here. The image you have finshed with has a strong Scottish character: towers and mists, where else could this be?
Bev

Well, this is very different from you Bryan. Nice treatment on this shot ... it makes a nice postcard. Fantastic perspective of this old tower ... great job

Hello Bryan,
The decision to desaturate and add vignetting is appropriate for the subject and works very well. It is an attractive posting. Well done and best regards...

HI Bryan
You gave it a moody atmosphere with the vignetting.
Good PP and good angle for the shooting.
Imho this one would look ghoulish and creepy if turned into a night shot with a ray of light hitting the tower.
