Went out for a good walk yesterday took the camera and tripod, never used the latter though, it was mostly on a familiar path along the briglands then up the bats but instead of turning right along the drove road we went to the left. This goes to a very stony path leading up to Greenhead farm then we went through a couple of fields to the another old road that leads to Selkirk Hill and then home. It was about 300 yards from home that I spotted this flower so I took a couple of shots I like this best.
ISO 100
Shutter speed 1/60
F-stop f/5.6
Shot in raw + 4 copies in Photomatix then converged as hdr then tone mapped just re-sized in pspx1 before uploading to tl.

Hello Jon,
Your capture of the flowers is sharp and colourful, with nice detail of the red edges of the leaves.
However, to me, there seems to be a lot of greenery which is not necessary to the shot. Also, the pendulous nature of the flowers seems to be begging to drape over a border.
I hope you will permit me to do a w/s to explain my ideas.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Jon,
Great detail in this with a fantastic shallow DoF, I would agree with Bev on her workshop but your shot will appeal to others. Cheers. TFS

Hi Jon
Nice shot of these flowers.
Like the effect of the shallow DOF.
Have to agree with Bev about cropping this.
