I am so happy with this picture.

As a younger man the western edges of the Western Isles were always the fringes of my experienced world. Now with two trips to Vancouver and one to Greenland behind me its a place on the way to somewhere even more exciting.

With this picture in my mind, never again will I be able to stand on these wonderful beaches, staring out to the west wondering what's over the horizon, because now I know

Taken from a west bound Glasgow to Vancouver flight, the coastline of Harris can clearly be seen. The beaches are those of Luskentyre and Scarista. To the west (left) cloud hangs over Taransay while to the north of West Loch Tarbert are the mountains of the north Harris Forest culminating at the Clisham.

Less than two hours from here one sees the small ice flows in the Denmark Straight on the approaches to Greenland

Wonderful photo! I couldn't even tell that it was taken from an airplane until you told us. Love the southeast clouds. Keep up the great shots!
