Back to Caribbean at Tortolla Island. This day we visited the old Callwood distillery. Behind the cash desk, a poster mentions at the customers must obligatorily buy a rum bottle to take photos there. It is not expensive to pay, you will agree with me!

The Callwood Distillery has been in the Callwood family for generations a traditional livelihood that has been passed on from father to son for generations. According to Michael Callwood, the current owner, the present Callwood estate was formally part of the Arundel estate. It was purchased by his great grandfather, Richard Callwood, Sr., a known buccaneer planter who owned Thatch Island in the 1800s. Family legend has it that the old Callwood bought the estate for his son, Richard, Jr. whom he sired by his Black slave mistress. It was from this inter-racial alliance that the present estate owners are descended and the rum making business has been in the family since then. The exact age of the building which houses the boiler room and storage casks is not known, but is believed to be at least 200 years old. The roof has been replaced on several occasions after hurricanes, but little else has been done to the building.

PP work:
-First, I used the flash because the place was dark
-I just adjusted the levels and contrast.

I add an other view in workshop. Unfortunately, I was in front of light!

I will be very busy for the next days. Le Festival en chanson de Petite-Vallee begins the 25 June and I am the president of the event. I will be back in July. Have a great Summer and very relaxing vacations!

Hi Annie,
A very authentic picture of these rum bottles. The use of the flash isn't very disturbing in this phot (and you had to do it) Strong compositin with a nice peak through.
TFS
Hans

Michel

Avec plaisir :-).
Superbe. Excellente netteté, détails et composition.
Bien fait
Pierre

Glas is a headache to many photographers Annie, but here you jumped like a well trained Gladiator in that arena!
Came out alife .. maybe a few scratches but sound and well.
You even flashed and thats hardley a problem looking close here
The shape of these super bottles are striking.
Alors..Bravo Annie et un bon Dimanche
John

Hi Annie. A well composed image with good colour and light. Excellent detail and interesting notes. Rum and I had a disagreement when I was in my 20's and not a drop has passed my lips since. TFS,
David

Hello Annie,

Nicely composed photo. Sharp, and even after flash, you controlled the light on glass very well. TFS

Vandana

Yan :)
ps: Merci beaucoup pour ta visite et ton support dans "Shopping at The Bay, Rideau Centre".

Bonjour annie,

Saludos y tfs, JL.

Hello Annie,
Some interesting subject covered with dust!
This gives flashback to the time of pirates, as rum is known to be the drfink of sailors...
Well composed presentation!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Maybe not but thanks for the offer! Great diagonal.

Hi Annie,

Yes I accept a drink.
I adore distilled and these seem to be delicious. I like forms of the bottles and of this in first plan. Excellent detail and interesting notice.
Congratulations

Nice image, makes you think about pirate stories. Or else, the bottles in which my parents used to make cherry wine.

Tibi

Nice colours, interesting composition. I like it!
Best wishes,

I ran into similar 'customs' in Spain, many years ago. Visiting a Monastery, we sampled over 50 varieties of liqueurs, needless to say, we did buy some, but couldn't remember .......

Hi Annie ,
I find this photo very attractive and very strong in their simplicity. It´s impressive how an ordinary common element, can be seen as an extraordinary one depending on the person.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.

Bonjour Annie
Bien vu.
Amicalement
Antoine

Hi Annie,
Yes, I do.
Beautiful and original shot with good composition and nice colors.

Best Regards,
Alex

Annie
A fine composition, nice pov! A good posting!
Rob

Hi Annie,
Like the stuff and the photo
But the balk in the foreground is disturbing me
I made a WS for you and removed the balk
Just as a hint quick and dirty
Ruud

great shot annie!
i like the atmosphere..
good pov and right light..
very compliments!
saluti chiara

No thank you Annie, I've tried a few while in the caribbean - we even visited the owner of Mount Gay in Barbados at his private home - but I only like my rum in a mix.
But it's a great price to pay if you can get beautiful pictures like this one - you can almost smell and touch it. Great atmosphere!
TFS

Hi Annie,

Hi Annie.
Great and beautifull shot.
Very good seeing.
Excellent POV.

Regards Frans

Hello Annie, I opened up your homepage and this was displayed on the front.
The bottles and jars are a great subject for this still-life.I like all the dust and dirt that shows so clearly and suggests age.The tatty pieces of cloth at the mouths of the bottles add further interesting detail.
TFs, regards Jean.

i really dont know where to put my critiques coz almost all of ur photos are full of comments hahaha!!! anyway i think this is the less critiques i found only (68) hahaha!!! regarding the photo, its quite dusty on every bottle but i guess thats ur point, but inspite of it you still manage to take a good photo!!!
take care mam' cheers!!!
