Poet Dylan Thomas lived in the Boathouse in Laugharne, Wales with his family between 1949 and 1953, the last four years of his life. It was in this house that he wrote many major pieces including Under Milk Wood. The boat house is set in a cliff overlooking the Tâf Estuary.

Thomas first visited the village of Laugharne with a friend, the poet Glyn Jones, in 1934, and was attracted to it. He moved there four years later, and the Boathouse was later bought for him by a benefactor.

It is now owned by Carmarthenshire County Council and serves as a museum. It is open to the public for most of the year. It contains Thomas memorabilia and some of the original furniture. Close to the main house is the "writing shed" where Dylan spent much of his time. It receives about 15,000 visitors a year.

I sure can imagine Dylan's love for this place Mark.
It looks very peaceful and the view is really great. It must look even lovelier in summer, when the sun is out!
I really like the composition.

Cheers,
Anneke

Your excellent use of composition has breathed some life into what looks like a very dull and overcast day Mark. I would love to see this shot in Summer ..

Hi Mark,
An excellent view that tells a story. Very nice perspective full of mood and ambiance. A beauty Mark- TFS Julie

Wonderfully composed and presented shot Mark,
Since I am guessing the weather was blustery that day,
you have focused the frame on the landscape,
but still created a thirds feel.
Well done my friend.

Hi Mark,
Interesting composition and note--I can see where such a place would serve as a wonderful inspiration for the creative.
I like how the water cuts the sand, and the visibility of the fields in the background
Nice work,
Karen
