MERCHANT SEAFARER'S WAR MEMORIAL
This War Memorial is located next to the Pierhead Building. It was sculpted by Brian Fell in 1996 as a memorial to the Merchant Seamen of Cardiff Bay and Butetown. The sculptor seamed together the two distinct features of the beached hull of a ship and a timeless face. The surrounding interpretative mosaic by Louise Shenstone and Adrian Butler, carries inscriptions and portraits of local wartime seafarers. |
