Pontsticill Reservoir
 |

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Pontsticill Reservoir is found on the Southern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Mid-Wales. It lies between the mountain of Pen y Fan to the North and the town of Merthyr Tydfil approximately 5 miles to the South. The lake is 2½ miles long and is part of a complex of 2 reservoirs, with Pontsticill the lower lake being the largest at 300 acres and with depths varying to over 100 feet.
The photo was taken in the afternoon but it was a cold misty day and the water was still, providing great mirror images. |

The reflections in the water are good but the overall picture doesn't work well - the colours are dull, there's no real point of focus in the picture and the sky is non existant. This looks like a good POV, you just need better weather and a different time of year to capture colours and preferably a non white sky. The other option would be to try to make something of the early morning mist, adding some drama and mystery into the picture?
Thanks....Mark

Hi Richard
very nice composed and yet a great light to involve the image.
I like the reflexes and the good sharpness even with the 2.8 aperture!..

Hi Richard:
This is an excellent capture of a gray dismal day, nicely balanced on both sides, maybe I would have been inclined to take some sky off the top to just above the tree....... Thanks for showing my friend....Roman:0)
