Hi Tl's,

Its raining cats and dogs here at the moment, and to celebrate I found this image I took earlier this year when visiting North East Wales and the wonderful Dee valley. This image is taken from the bridge over the River Dee in the town of LLangollen.

Llangollen nestles within the beautiful Dee Valley in the North East of Wales. It is a town of varied parts, with plenty to interest the most discerning of visitors. It is also plays host to many different international events each year, the most famous being the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. Llangollen is where the world comes to Wales and Wales welcomes the world. Dinas Bran Castle
nestles high on one of the tallest hills in the Dee Valley, in the North East of Wales over looking a land that has changed much during its 3,000 year existence.
But if stone could talk, what a tale it could tell! It could answer many questions such as why is the RiverDee
the most sacred Celtic River in Western Europe, was the Holy Grail really hidden within its walls, who was St Collen, after whom Llangollen takes its name and was
he really the first Abbot of Glastonbury?.

It is safe to say that Llangollen and the Dee Valley has the richest collection of myths and legends, historical figures, stunning landscapes and family based activities than anywhere else in Wales.

But there's much more to this North Wales town than immediately meets the eye. Llangollen is known as the Capita lFestival of Wales-and with good reason! The International Musical Eisteddfod
has attracted thousands of competitors and visitors alike from all over the world since its inception in 1947 each summer. Balloon Festivals,
Food Festivals, Fringe Festivals,
the list just simply keeps growing, making Llangollen a must visit town at any time of the year. Some of the best visitor attractions in Wales also reside in Llangollen,
with the renowned Llangollen Steam Railway leading the way.The horse-drawn boats on the
Llangollen Canal is one of the oldest attractions in the country,
while the famous Ladies of Llangollen were receiving visits to their superb Plas Newydd as soon as they moved in in 1780!

What a beautiful shot of Wales. The dark shades of green in the fields, the water, and of course the stone buildings are beautiful. This is the beauty achieved with all of your rain (we have dry, parched earth because of a lack of rain....I'd take rain any day). This is uust what one would imagine to see in the countryside of the U.K.

I love it John... it's almost as if you take a look in a fairy tale country.
I love the lush greens and the calm waters. Wonderful old buildings. I think this would be my kind of place to visit in a vacation...

It is a very nice landscape shot with good saturation and composition. I noticed, that lot of people from UK, write that have rainy day therefore have tame to adding photos, so thanks UK for rainny days :) One question, this smudges in BG near trees, what are they? Foggy? Trees evaporate?

A delightfully, pleasing shot.
The contrast in shapes and textures of the buildings, trees and water is good.
I like the off-centre focal point and the placing of the stream, rushing towards camera.

Wales is such a pretty place, (and wet from what I can remember from my last visit), love the position of the "Pub" off to one side, and the vivid greens of the trees and grass.
