Cool dog.

Our border collie loved snow.
Here he had been catching snowballs in the air and was franticly searching where they'd disappeared to.

A month ago, I lost my precious friend Pica, we’d taken care of each other for over 16 years.
I had put things on hold for our Border collie; he was nearing the end and needed my attention and help. It was not for the sake of our convenience or anything else that we were going to have him put to sleep, no; he had given us so many years and wonderful moments, and his unconditional 'love', so long as he wasn't suffering and his life had quality...
I am finding it hard to adjust, he was so entwined in and part of the daily routine.
I have had many dogs (and cats), but Pica was different, he was hyper intelligent and had a beautiful character, a strong will but extremely willing to please, always seemed to know what to do straight away.
He came through 6 awful months of quarantaine when we moved to England with his usual flair, it only made him more protective of his home and us, he fought his way through cancer and a few other operations, what a fighter!
As he was always with us, he is in so many photos; I came across this one, Pica in his element!
I miss him.
I feel very alone.
The silence in the house oppressive and often deafening.
I'm not depressed or anything just in a natural grieving process.
I am not looking for sympathy; it is something I have to go through.

I wish you all a fantabulous day and thanx for your time, Magda (*_*)

Hi Magda

I like the graphism of the black dog, against the white snow (& vice versa!). Good sharpness & pov. Tfs.

bedankt
Huub

Yes we miss him terribly. He was unique. I've always like this photo tremendously. The snow clinging to his pelt is lovely.

Hi Magda,

Memories are cherished and are wonderful to have, especially of the ones that had impact in our lives. Pica, will be forever remembered, He will bring a smile to your face which will cheer you up.
Beautiful capture to add to your memoirs.

Mike

Hi Magda,

We are (my wife and I) really touched of your notes. I have lost my dog and my wife has lost some of her cats, and your words brought us back some painful memories. Memories that make us understand that pets are like people and sometimes better than them. They give love without asking of anything, they do whatever they can to please you..., things that a human being wouldn't do easily. That's why their loss is harder, more painful than of a human.
Unfortunately, you can do anything but wait and time will help you eventually.
Thank you very much for your beuatiful photo that mean something different for any of us.

Take care :)

He's a cutie! And some dogs, like my Golden retriever Bajas, are simply crazy about snow & water! Well retrievers are supposed to be, to fetch the prey if falling in the water when shot... Your photograph shows a beautiful animal, with such good eyes! And will you believe my Bajas died from cancer too, but that is some years ago now...
Regards,
Pablo -

The loss of a pet can break our heart. I have also experienced it many times. We learn to treasure there memories forever. Pica is happy now in Dog Heaven where he has made friends with my Pepe.
My condolences.

Pica is one of your best models ;-) and you capture it very well.

Hello Magda,

The intensity in his eyes is incredible. A beautiful portrait of Pica. He will always be with you as I find myself two years after losing my friend he continues to leave a space that I don't think ever can be filled. It is just now the smiles are on my face more than the frowns. I understand this very well and I wish you all the best Magda, a great friend indeed, your Pica!

Peace, Love and comfort to you today
Kevin

Wonderful photo, he is so alert and watchful, waiting for another snowball perhaps? Great contrasts! TFS,
Fran

Even tho my dog didnt pass away,(we had to give her away when we were moving) i missed her so much. Out of habit I would look for her at her fav corner under the bed or absent-mindedly stop at the dogfood counter at the supermarket. Just amazing that we feel a part of ourselves is lost when we lose them. Something only time can and will heal. Take care Magda!

I can feel the element Pica seems to be in, playful at the moment. A nice tribute to a great friend.

Hi Magda,
it's nice to see how much fun this pretty dog has at the snow. I haven't so much fun today - we had the most bad ice on the streets since years.
Very nice shot, I enjoyed looking, thanks

J'aime bien cette image,Magda! On dirait que le chien se fond dans la neige blanche! Belle composition! Michel

Indeed a precious model and a great friend. Lovely protrait Magda.
Pika looks great and so serene!!! I particulary love the snow on his hair...

Very beautiful image indeed.

take care, Stef :))

I think that the title is on the spotin relation to the image and I believe that the dog agrees!lol. Nice contrast of dog against the snow and nice tight frame.

Hello Magda,
a beautiful photo of your border collie, looks so attentive.
I have always wanted to have a border collie, a friend of mine had a border collie "woman", and I immeadiately stood in line, when she was about to become a mother. But, as I'm living in the city, and not having too much time either, I was told better not looking for a border collie. What a disappointment, but I realized, that border collies need a lot more attention than many other dogs. Anyway, I also loved "Beppi" (the mother) so much, also hyper-intelligent (she ran home on command, even 30 miles away from home, no problem for her), and always in a good, loving mood. It was all for the benefit of her kids, that my friend rejected giving one to me ... instead of that I have been loaded up with soft, cuddly toy dogs by my family and friends. Loads, I mean a real lot of them!!!
One day however, I want a REAL one. Just like yours. From what you write about Pica, you must have a had a great time with him, truely a great loss now ...
Thanks for sharing this beautiful memory
Greetings
Guntram

Magda, wonderful, well-exposed image of a cherished friend. I can relate to the loss of a pet. To others, they seem like just animals. But to the owner, pets are like family. You have to go through the grieving process, but Pica has gone to a better place, and immortalized by your image. Best, Sam

the company, feelings and together years
of complicity between both.
it is good to feel that, in the display of as we are
alive and we remembered the best things in this life.
Be happy.

A beautiful portrait, Magda... and a lovely memory. I'm glad that quarantine regulation has disappeared at last, though it's still difficult to bring a dog to England I've heard...
But at least you had some good snow there, over here it's generally too warm and snow generally disappears faster than a tax inspector :(.
So, TFS.

You have my sympathy for your loss. Just one question; haven't you considered taking another dog ? Not to "replace" Pica, which of course would be impossible... but to fill the void he left in your lives...

Hello Magda, a nice photo of Pica, nice fur and snow clinging on the hair.

It's a nice pose, he looks alert. He looks like a very nice and sweet dog.

Are you considering getting another one?

Take care, Yan :)

Magda, I just saw this one. I am so sorry to hear you lost a member of your family. My heart really goes out to you and Paul. It is wonderful to have a canine companion. They bring so much joy, but when they leave us, they leave a great emptiness. I am so glad you have many happy memories.

Good Day Magda!

Sorry for the delay, I missed this one last week.
Some dogs are like kids! They just love to play in snow !
Nice moment captured.
Take care (^_^)
Robert
PS. May time and love from Paul and enthousiasm from all your Trek Lens fans heal your sorrow.

What a gorgeous shot of a gorgeous looking dog. We had two border collies when I was growing up, both were special but the second, Mollie, was like my shadow, just always by my side and I felt there was a special bond, as you do with Pica. It's put me off getting another dog, in fact; I feel it wouldn't be the same.

Pica looks like he's been running pell mell through the snow, and has dropped down to cool his belly! He had splendid markings, I love his stripe.

Take care, Magda.
