[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Lately I have been trying out various scripts supplied with Paint Shop Pro 9 and designing a few myself - for the well-known purpose of making photos look like paintings. It is quite interesting because some photos make better oil paintings whereas other are definitely destined to become water colour paintings. I still have to find out what makes a particular scene or mood qualify for a particular treatment.
This is Irving Street in Soho, just off Leicester Square, on an early November evening.
I posted the original as Workshop. If anyone thinks I should have posted the original instead, please let me know. I have lots of fun with these scripts, but I am not sure they are an improvement.

To take the shot I steadied the camera against a lamppost and used the timer.

Looks good enough to frame. I think photography and painting go hand in hand. Nice composition.

I have tried this without the success you have achieved here. This is a fantastic picture. I do have one crticism. The white light in the center left above the woman is a distraction. I would tone that part down if possible. My eye was drawn to that a bit too much. Otherwise I like it immensely.

I like very much what you have done here, the original is good but this shot makes it more interesting. Personally I would like just a little more detail but that's just my opinion. It's a great piece of work, well done!

wow,at last i saw the crowds, maybe the men in suits and girl in mini skirts, but they were all wet,i like the rainy effect,it made the lamps intimate and impressive, cheers,

You sure achieved the look of a painting here Per! Well done, it is very good! Reminds me of the paintings of Great Masters...

You created nice abstract painting. Much more interesting then the original shot.
I think this script works well in this case, except on the 2 guys on the right (they got a bit to dark).
Since you are now in the painting business, just one tip that saves a lot of time (in case you are not using it already). Create a folder with several shots that you think have potential for a good painting and then run the script on all of them at once (as batch process). Then you can work more just on the ones that made it into a good painting. Further more, in this folder create each picture in 2 or 3 sizes as the script effect looks different depending the picture size.

Hey Per!
I definitely like the water color version better. It looks like it's straight out of an art exhibition with all the different colors, shades, and contrasts. The paint scripts that you have applied give it a little something extra...I like it a lot! :)
