So, what is it? It's an orange!

If you're curious this is a thin slice of orange, on top of the front of a CD case - behind which I positioned one flashgun of my MT-24EX. The flash then fires through the slice of fruit - there's no light on this side at all!

The flash was connected via an off-shoe cord, and was actually resting on our dining room table. The CD case was propped up on two cereal bar boxes with the flash positioned underneath with the second tube disabled. I used a bit of plastic shopping bag as a diffuser, then positioned the camera above it :)

Just in case you don't know what an orange is here's some info!

Jeeeeeeeeeeze Adrian. WOW. This looks...don' know...strange, sureal. The structure looks almost like melted metal of some sort and the center of the orange looks like a cave of gold. Even though you can see it is an orange you really don't tihnk oragne when looking at it. I am just waiting for it to come a live and start move around before my eyes hehe. This is a really good capture Adrian. Good luck in the contest. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I'm sure you stand a real good chanse in winning. You are just amazingly talented.

And hehe, thanks fot the link hehe LOL.

I like how rich and colourfull is this natural patern. You have a great idea. The macro is that clear! Hope you win!

I like the focal point of the picture, along with the color... and the texture.

Wow.... an excellent shot... and very well thought out Adrian! You are very creative to come up with such an ellaborate setup. I hope you do well in the comp.

A real frame filler with the bright colours and off centre composition working well together.
The colour seems very natural, i think the back flash has worked well. i don't really recognise the middle section, but i guess the light is stronger here. I might be tempted to fill it in, if it were dark, black, the orange part would seem brighter and the details would seem stronger.
Good luck with the comp!!

Great and juicy shot, Adrian!
I like the cripsy colours and the composition, which is fantastic!
Very nice seen and done!

Belle composition avec ce cadrage très serré en macro.Couleurs et luminosité en font une image très agréable à regarder. Bien fait.
Bye, Jacques

Good lighting technique, which resulted in this great image. I wish you luck in the competition. Perhaps you could let us know where you placed.

ur idea is great. The colors are so amazing, i can't take off my eyes of this photo. Beautiful

Very cool macro you have created here, and the way you did it was ingenius. The veins in the orange are almost mesmerizing and the color is great. Well done!

Very creative and interesting effect you acheived here. I like the choice of not centering it directly in the middle as well. Thanks for sharing.
