Some friends and I recently made the trip to Sharpness, via River Severn and the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal. This is a shipping canal, and much larger than the ones I'm used to.
No locks at all, just swing bridges. You just toot your horn, and the British Waterways guy comes out of his hut, closes the road, and winds a mechanism which swings the bridge out of the way.
Sharpness had a real maritime feel, assisted by the views across the estuarine mud flats and saltings, and the sea-going vessels moored up there. |

Great composition, POV and colours!
That’s a nice pic, I have taken a similar picture which can be seen in my gallery.
Hi Will, I love anything maritime, but this is a really gorgeous shot, it has everything, the vibrant colours, reflection on the water, ropes, drama in the sky, thanx, M, (*_*)
points tomorrow...
Beautiful photograph, Will. Love the view from the water, love the colors and great sharpness.
Marleen
very nice comp and framing here will :)
love the rich tones
clarity is superb :)
well done
Hello Will,
Rich colour and excellent details!
Image is well composed, and the point of view leaves much of the boat with sky as background... nice!
Suppose the vessel has seen better days but still do well as photo subject!
Greetings,
Pablo -
