I headed up to London after a days "work" at motocross (I managed to take over 2300 pictures during the meeting!!). I heard about The Thames Festival on the news, and I decided to get to Hungerford Bridge in time for the fireworks.
I don't get much chance to photograph London now, with the motocross taking up my spare time, and we definately don't get enough chance to photograph fireworks in the capital city!!
Waterloo Bridge is being back lit by the fireworks, with the traffic still continuing to cross. In the background you can make out the familiar sights of St Pauls Cathedral, Tower 42 (the old Natwest Tower!) and the Swiss Re building (The Gerkin), and the buildings of the South Bank on the right of the picture.

The Mayor's Thames Festival is a spectacular, free, outdoor celebration for London - the world’s most exciting multi-cultural city.
Launched in 1997 with an amazing high wire walk across the Thames, the festival has grown to become the capital’s largest free, open-air arts festival. In 2005, over 470,000 people attended the festival weekend.
Thames Festival commissions high-profile, cutting-edge arts events for unique environments on and around the river. It also showcases the best in street arts, with pyrotechnics, illuminations, art installations, river events, street theatre, massed choirs, circus and music. Tens of thousands dance in the streets at the festival's climactic event, a spectacular Night Carnival that's a vivid mixture of masquerade, dance, music and fantastic costumes.
The festival takes place right in the heart of London between Westminster Bridge and Tower Bridge on the River Thames, on the river banks and on the adjacent riverside walkways and public open spaces.
