[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The European Peacock butterfly feeding. This well-known colourful butterfly, is found in temperate Europe and Asia. It should not be confused or classified with any of the other butterflies known as "peacock" in the Anartia genus of butterflies. It is the only member of the genus Inachis. The species is resident in much of its range, often wintering in buildings or trees. It therefore often appears quite early in spring.
This particular butterfly was enhabiting a large Buddleia plant at Temple Nemsam in Leeds, along with many of its kin and also some Admirals and Cabbage Whites. I love this type of butterfly as it is in my opinion the most interesting and beautifully patterned. Enjoy.
