Red sky at night,
Sailor's delight;
Red sky at morning,
Sailor's warning.

The reality behind this proverb is still discussed. It has appeared in other forms i.e.

Shakespeare wrote- He said something similar in his play, Venus and Adonis. “Like a red morn that ever yet betokened, Wreck to the seaman, tempest to the field, Sorrow to the shepherds, woe unto the birds, Gusts and foul flaws to herdmen and to herds.”

In the Bible, (Matthew XVI: 2-3,) Jesus said, “When in evening, ye say, it will be fair weather: For the sky is red. And in the morning, it will be foul weather today; for the sky is red and lowering.”

Weather lore has been around since people needed to predict the weather and plan their activities. Sailors and farmers relied on it to navigate ships and plant crops.

A shot of a bright sunset over Mount Edgecumbe, taken in Plymouth from my second year halls of residence room. The array of colours which some sunsets create is fantastic, wish it was like this every evening. I'm sorry I can't remember how the weather was the morning after, lets say it was glorious.

What beautiful colours. Howver, it is quite hard to focus. I suggest that you make the border white. The one you're using now is distracting, IMHO. :)

Hi James.
Difficult to believe it, it is sooo wonderful image, sooo beautyful sky with this one notice is a great work.
I thank you very much.

Hi James, I think the structure of the clouds during sunset was so amazing and you captured them well, however I wish to see you did not crop the bottom to give more atmosphere to the photo, cheers

Hello James....
I so agree.. what an amazing "sailors delight" you have shot here... my husband is a sailor on the Great Lakes (USA/CANADA) and he says for the most part... its still true.. thanks for a wonderful RED sky... with the tad bit of earth on the the bottom...
