Hi,
Taken last Friday whilst walking in the Lake District. You could say that this was at the opposite end of the day to the shot I posted of Greendale Tarn, as this was one of the last shots I took that day, and was taken as the sun was setting.
Wasdale is a remote glacial valley, which boasts the highest mountain, (Scarfell Pike), The deepest lake, (Wastwater, pictured) and The Biggest Liar! (they hold a competition each year to find the person who can tell the biggest lies!!!)
Wasdale is also credited with being the home of british mountain climbing as the area has some of the most extream faces in the area. The mountains that are shown in this shot are (from l to r), Yewbarrow, Great Gable and Lingmell. The slope on the right is the north side of Illgill Head and the slope is called the Wasdale screes, which are spectacular screen runs that fall over 2,000m uninterupted into the lake, and continue another 250 feet to the lake bottom.
You either love the remote atmosphere of Wasdale or you feel rather intimidated by the place. I love Wasdale, it encapsulates all that is good about the Lake District. Beautiful scenery, tranquility and remoteness. We are fast loosing this in the UK as we become more and more overcrowded. We have more than 60million people squeezed into our small islands. Don't get me wrong, I am a very welcoming tollerant person. We need to protect our wilderness areas or they will be lost for ever.
Hope you like the shot,
Regards,
John.

Hi John,
Impressive saturated colors with beautiful luminosity and a good presentation. IMO, the frame is too large and instead of putting the picture in evidence, it take too much evidence. TFS, the picture is still very interesting !

Beautiful image with great depth and mood!

Hi John.

Very interesting natural light bouncing off the landscape, the clouds acting as filters do help. Great angle used as well looking up this stunning stretch of water, welldone.

very atmospherical picture, I like these kind of pictures, the mist, shadow and light, really good one
you have beautiful surroundings to take pictures

Wonderful secenery captured extremely well - the elements of the water, mountains and sky all work so well together in this composition. Great stuff!
Thanks for sharing
