| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
As I sat in the hotel room in Plymouth city centre I first noticed the man on the ground. Then I watched the people going by. Some will stare at him, others look away and some prefer to ignore him completely.
I took about 20 photos of the scene, some with older people passing by but mostly some youths in the picture (Plymouth is after all a student city).
I decided to post one of the youth pictures because the contrast between young and old fits better. It was not until I started the PP work that I noticed the importance of the bank ad's in the window.
Apologies for the quality. The photo was taken with a 300mm lens through a closed (and very dirty) hotel window.
PP - As you can see, different layers (B&W over colour) and remove some sections to bring out the message. Slight crop and as it is with raw images, lots of adjustment in rawshooter. |

great social documentation and well seen it does give a strong message, and would be a corker if the technical quality was stronger. Might look better in bl/wh/
Hi Andrei,
That is so great that you tell me in your note that you only realised the importance of the ad's until you started work on the picture. Happened to me a few times too (not that I can work all that much with my pictures - haha).
It's a great shot, so TFS
Have a nice evening,
Els

Very effective! Well captured. This picture has so many layers to it in terms of content.
ciao Andrei,
This photo is strong, yet sad comment on the lost people in the streets of the world's cities, especially when there is also so much wealth. I especially like how you've commented on the contrasts by using portions of the image in color. I feel so powerless when I see these people.
There is a woman who sits every day outside the building where I work. She's clean, dresses well in casual clothes and just seems to want to inhabitat this location most of the time. I feel sad for her too. What can we do? I have somewhat of a struggle to maintain my own life, yet how more difficult for these homeless folks who are often mentally unable to cope in our fast paced world.
in boca a lupo!
