Waste from the Berwyn slate quarries near Llangollen.
The Berwyn Slate Quarry is one of the oldest quarries in the slate industry.Situated 1360ft above sea level on the picturesque Horseshoe Pass near Llangollen, Berwyn Slate Quarry or (Clogau Quarry) was originally established around 1700.
It was worked continuously up until the 1940's then intermittently until the late eighties. It has since been re-opened and supplies slate for Architects and builders all over the country. |

I like these kind of 'abstract' pictures, love the little fern (?)
greetings, lavinia
Great pic with good tones, Chris and a great note. I had no clue that they reopened quarries again.
Marleen
Great repetition and value.
A difficult name is somewhere in the back of my mind - something like Blanau Festiniogg - well sound like that - you will know.
Everything over there was grey, greyer, greyest, more grey....
You already explained that an environment like that does not much to cheer you up.
This one is very interesting with that brave little fern - and here I also miss a frame (nah-not really).
