[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Last one of thursday mornings mini shoot, it was pretty desolate here and dissapointingly flat, but I thought this had potential in black and white especially with the lovely sky.
The small building in the left of the frame is that of a water pump house which is owned by the water authorities.

PP Resized, Coverted to B&W via channels, resharpened, title/border added.

Sorry, also must add, the clouds look a bit blurrier than usual, i've been trying a new technique on them, duplicate layer, then use the blur tool to smudge the clouds up quite heavily, finally with the opacity slider set to normal mode I reduced the opacity to about 45%, afterall clouds are never really meant to look sharp.

Thanks for looking.

Very clear image Dean !
Good capture. Well done.
I appreciate that B&W is sometimes suitable/better.

But personally, for these kinds of shots I think the colour version ALWAYS works better (that's just my personal view).
For one thing I greatly prefer your colour landscapes to the B&W

Best regards, Daniel

Excelente imagen en B&W.
La textura y el dramatismo del color está muy bien utilizada en este paraje.
Felicitaciones Dean.

I like the black and white conversion and putting it to frame. Nicely done! :D

Desolation angel,
Good tones, like the sky effect, black and white works for me on this one.
best wishes
Rob

pics like this dont need a note
they speaks for themselves
yes it is very desolate
and the black and white make it even more desolate

Good morning Dean

Superb image matches the title or visa versa perfectly. I have not tried any B/W work yet but you seem to have the perfect knack for it.

TFS regards Helen

Hi Dean,

That's a very nice B/W you are showing here. The shades in the grass give a good contrast in the foreground and the gradual change in the sky from light to dark works very well. I also think the result of your dual layer post processing is working very well.

Greetings! Dennis

You still found lots of lines taking one to the main subject Dean. Nicely balanced and good contrast.Good photo.
Nico

Good sharp image. I think the sky may be the best feature. It seems to have a velocity and a direction right toward the cabin. Leading our eyes there. Well done.

TFS!

Hi Dean. What a beauty. I really like the use of B&W here. It adds to that mood. Well done. TFS. Dany :-)

Hi Dean,
Great idea to convert this scenery to B&W. The contrast in this photo came out perfectly and gave the photo a wonderful feel. I like the idea of blurring the clouds a lot, since it does give more focus on the landscape.
TFS,
Niek

A perfect, full of light and air image!
Every part in it is complete and perfect.
The balance, the light, the presentation.

bravo, Karina:)

Dean

I like the drama in the sky, and to my mind this is the dominant feature in this one. I think it would be improved if you cropped it such that there was more sky and the horizon line was only about a sixth of the way up the page instead of a third.

Perhaps a lower point of view so that the shed is outlined more clearly against the sky would also help.
