Hello Everyone,

Today has been like April, a mixture of warm sunshine and sudden, heavy showers! Still, the emphasis has been on warm so I am not complaining!

Today I am posting a photograph of Robinson Castle! This is especially for Linda (Shelbeesmom)who has enquired about it previously but for various reasons I have been unable to get a decent shot. One of the reasons has been renovations happening next door and there has been a stream of vehicles moving up, down or parking!

The house is nearly 400 years old and is made of random stone walls. These walls are created by building two walls 2-3 feet apart and filling the centre with rubble. (As you can imagine, we have no cavity walls!) The windows are small and have stone mullions between the panes. There is a rain splash over the downstairs window and another over the original front door. (The original front door is inside the porch.) The porch was built just over 100 years ago as a dairy! A very small dairy but this was a small farm house.

You will notice that the end wall changes colour at the first floor, that is because there used to be a block of outside toilets attached to this wall. These outside toilets served the two houses nearby as well as the farmhouse! Fortunately things have improved and we now have an internal bathroom!

Thank you for your visit! I hope you enjoyed this little snippet of history. Please fell free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph.

Ahhh, the stones are incredible! If I was wealthy, I would have MY house built from rock! This is amazing, love the stones, the natural earth tones, the wooden door!! My dream! Thanks for the shot Bev!

Hi Bev,
Nice shot of a nice old building, I like the POV and the wall in the FG, the certainly don't build them like that anymore unfortunately.

Hello Beverley,
So this is the real thing and not a replica!
Wonderful, wonderful...
Picturesque if any; good point of view to show details! And next we of course will wish for interior details, hehehe...
Greetings,
Pablo -

What great texture and colors in the stones. Much personality. Very nice flowers also. And in the top right corner we get a hint of a nice purple tree. Well done.

TFS!
Reid

Hi Bev,
So that is what you call those walls I so love : random stone!
Outside toilets serving more then one family - yes we are lucky with the internal bathrooms.
Thanks for your beautiful picture and note.
Els

Hello there Bev

What a beautiful capture, lovely building and an excellent POV. Very picture postcard I love it. Typical English house.

Excellent sharpness and details and superb notes.

TFS I hoep your keeping well

regards Helen

Hello, Bev!

What a lovely home! A castle indeed! And what a nice picture of it.

I've done a little simple workshop for you - I hope you're not offended - I used the clone stamp to try to get rid of some overhead wires and then just increased the contrast and saturation a wee bit.

Am I right in thinking that when you took this one, the sky was a horrid pale colour and that you've added some colour to it? I think you can just see some white shining through the leaves of that tree on the right. This is something that has plagued me too - I'm not sure how to get rid of that!

Kind Regards,

John.

hi bev;
the stone walls of the garden and the house and the flowers are very net and in perfect naturel colors.i will post mine i a few days :)..tfs

Hello Bev,
your beautiful Castle is really a masterpiece, with a light very strange, as within a tale. Is it the house of your family? You know its history very well, in every case.
Lizzie is warning me it's time to dine, have a nice evening.

Love the paler looking colours here Bev. Well composed and lovely detail. I have been dreaming about a very similar looking building just around the corner from where I live now, not quite as old but dating back to the later 1800s. TFS,
David

Many thanks for your comment on ‘Harry Who? ’

Hi Bev, good capture of this very charming subject.
I like your POV and the subject :-)
I felt it looked a bit pale - though I do appreciate this could have been due to the available lighting/atmospheric conditions.
I also like John'd WS, but also felt inclide to try yet another - I do hope you like it.. please let me know.

Well done. Best regards, Daniel
