[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Taken yesterday in North-East Fife near the village of Gauldry. These are mechanically-baled, dense and heavy (three to a ton) bales of wheat-straw in a recently cut field. You can see the lines of the harvester in the stubble that is left behind.

The sun was reflected off the shiny surface of the straw in the bales and the field - I hope I have managed to capture some of that.

24/09/2007: I've had another look at this in the cold light of day and I'm not that happy with it - it seems to have quite a bluish cast. I am therefore posting a corrected version as a workshop. Any comments welcome!

Pleasant landscape, well composed. I would have boosted the color saturation just a little bit.

Wow, this is a winner. The clarity, color, saturation and composition makes this a winning photo. I like the color saturation. it gives it a dramatic and antique look.

Hi John - I do like the sweeping view below those big clouds in the wide open sky. The misty colours at the LH horizon enhance the mood of this beautiful summer day. Well done and TFS! Cordelia :)))

Hi John
Beautiful scene and shot.
Regards.
Anna

Hello John

What a superb shot, fab colours and an excellent POV. Good sharp image with nice notes too

TFS regards Helen

Hello John,

Another good shot, but I don't think it's quite as good as your TE posting. Perhaps a little more sharpening would get the glint of light on the straw and the stubble to show up better.

I agree with you that there is a blue cast.

I've had a go at a WS.

Regards,

Peter.

hello John,
I really like this one. It is surprising how yet another balines picture can be appealing. But yours is a good 'un.What I like about it best is the nice round shadow. Nobody seems to have mentioned it, yet is the first thing I see. I like the way the field rolls on to the distance hills to. Oh, and the sky is very nice. For me, the jury is out on whether the workshops are an improvement. of course they have the classic gold yellow but there is something nice about the blueishness.
regards
Bev

Hi John, I looked at your "corrected" photo in the workshop, to be honest, I prefer the original version. I don't think that the slight bluish cast does any harm and the stubble has a lovely warm colour.
Best regards,
Les

Hello John,

I have to agree with Gaffer that your contribution to TrekEarth is better than this but even so, this is a good image in its own right! I really like the POV and the light effects. The colour of the field is, for me, better in the original than the w/s and I love the view to the horizon and the sky!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi John

The blue cast is strangley attractive. The whole shot resembles a painting I have seen by Corot. Lovely framing and great POV. This type of shot will be even better when you get your wide angle lens

Nice one John!
I've been hunting down hay stacks myself for a while, still not found any good ones yet :)

Keep them coming.

Gary
