[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A shot taken of a small but pretty waterfall at the side of the road (A702) as it passes through the Dalveen Pass in Dumfriesshire from Elvanfoot in South Lanarkshire to Carronbridge and Thornhill.

Taken at 1/6 sec at f/22 to allow some blurring of the fast-moving water. No tripod but camera steadied on a low wall.

Hi John,

beautiful shot, with very nice blur on the water and wonderful, crisp colours. Some overburn on the water is an issue though. As of composition I think that making the vertical crop would make it much stronger, making the watefall even more prominent - surrounding grass with it's nice textures detracts in this case from main subject (just because it's so beautiful) weakening the shot. I made the workshop - I hope you like it...*s* tfs

:-)) will be back this afternoon (Indonesia time)

Hi John,
This is agreat picture my friend! Those autumn colours, the waterfall -excellent captured with a long shuttertime without tripod!- and the high f-stop takes care of a perfect DOF.
Really a superb posting my friend!

Hello John,

I think the greens look much more natural in this shot compared to your latest posting on TE. They contrast well the the autumn colours of the bracken. A good sharp shot without a tripod.

I don't usually like shots with long exposures of running water, but you have got it just right here.

Regards,

Peter.

You've done well here John especially as you didn't have a tripod.

Really sharp image, love the natural colours. Might have looked better in portrait mode, but who knows.

Peter

Hi John

I think this works well in landscape! I can feel the sense of space. Love the colours and dof - I still struggle with high F stops sometimes!

Hi John, thhis is a lovely shot, reminds me of an oil painting my mum used to have on the wall many years ago. Lovely and sharp where it counts and the blurring is good. As one or two have mentioned it might be (even) better in portrait. Best regards, Les

Hello John,
An excellent shot with beautiful autumn colours. I especially like the contrast between greens and organes and reds. A lovely capture if a waterfall. The whole composition is wonderful, congratulations!
